Bulldozer

Russel Meyer, co-owner of R&R finish grading, builds the first grade control structure. Steve Gough supervised much of the construction and kept a close eye on grade control morphology.
grading

Looking upstream from the bridge, two completed grade control structures can be seen. Bank toes were also armored with largequarried stone.
revet construction

Composite revetment construction. At the bank toe, you cansee joint staked willows, buttonbush, and dogwood species.

flood

A 10-year flood event occurred in June 2000, barely intothe first growing season. Floods never happen at convenient times--this time exposure, taken at 2 am and lit by lightning, shows the high-velocity thread being kept in the center of the channel by the grade control structures. You can also see standing waves below theupstream-most grade control structure, indicating energy dissipation. At left, the constructed floodplain is inundated. View is downstream.
