Our videos are made with a passion for teaching river conservation science. In 2008 we produced a DVD with 60 short teaching videos for the Missouri DNR and Missouri Department of Conservation with support from US EPA 319 funding. You can get a copy at cost here.

The NSF-funded Science Education Resource Center (SERC) also hosts a collection of our videos, and there you can download full resolution versions.

Introduction to the Emriver Em2 Geomodel.
A three-minute introduction to our Emriver Em2 river model, showing its elegant engineering, portability, ease of use, and advantages over traditional sand-filled, "home brew" stream tables. (Large file: 34 Mb, with audio) Low-resolution 12mb version here.

Em4 Winona installation
Emriver Em4 installtion.
Installation of our first Emriver Em4 at Winona State University in June 2008. The Em4's box is 4m long by 1.5 m wide and tilts on two independent axes. The Em4 uses our newly-developed media that is color coded by size. The yellow particles are largest with white in the middle and brown/black as the smallest sizes. (Large file: 28 Mb, with audio)

A sequence of eight aerial photos running from 1939 to 1996 show remeandering of a reach that appears as a straight, probably recently channelized reach in 1939. The location is six miles north of Grant City, Missouri. An animated blue line traces the channel changes. (2.1 Mb)

This clip opens with a flyover of the Blockton, Missouri 7.5' quad (from 1975 photography) showing the Grand River (see other clips here). We next see a flyover of a 1996 aerial, which is then contrasted with meander development in the Emriver model showing strong similaritites between the two. Frame width is about 1.1 m at top and 1.8 km for the Grand River. (2.6 Mb)

Shot on the Jacks Fork River in the Missouri Ozarks. The camera housing is placed in shallow, high velocity flow, causing turbulence and changes in velocity distribution that mobilize chert bed particles. (3 Mb)
