Little River Research & Design was born in 1991 in Champaign, Illinois, when our founder, Steve Gough, started designing and building river models in his garage. Little River continues to grow from that humble beginning, and we now export internationally, with clients all over the world.
After 17 years of work in home offices around Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri, we moved into the perfect building in Carbondale, Illinois in September 2007.
Since 1992, Little River Research & Design has provided services in river science and conservation, including applied river geomorphology, biotechnical engineering, urban stream management, river ecosystem restoration and science education.
We’ll continue our outstanding river restoration and research work, but believe we can best help river ecosystems through education, so we’re focusing on our Emriver models, our array of videos, and other tools to show how rivers and river ecosystems work.
Steve’s blog, “Riparian Rap,” documents our daily challenges and lives in southern Illinois.
We speak English, Arabic, French, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.
